Change Default Pgf Format for Text Frames
ChangeDefTextFramePgfFmt.fso
Problem description
A newly created text frame always automatically contains a paragraph.
Its paragraph format is always ‘Body’ or ‘Haupttext’ (depending on the FrameMaker application language). There is no option in FrameMaker to specify that a different paragraph format will be used automatically.
Function description
The script permits the automatic application of a defined paragraph format to the first paragraph of a newly created text frame.
Any number of formats can be specified. The first format in the list that is present in the current format catalog will be applied.
The menu command functions as a switch. The current status is indicated by a checkmark in front of the command.
The desired formats and other options can be specified by holding down the Shift key prior to opening the Base Pack menu.
- If the ‘Use default paragraph format, if it exists in the ¶ catalog’ option is enabled, no change will occur through the script when the default FM format (e.g.‘Body’) is included in the paragraph catalog of the current document.
- If the ‘Use default paragraph format, if no user defined format exists in the ¶ catalog’ option is enabled, no change will occur through the script if none of the defined formats are included in the paragraph catalog of the current document.
Enabling this option is recommended. - When neither of the last two options is enabled and no defined formats are included in the paragraph format catalog of the current document either, the first format name on the list will be assigned.
Requirements
- FrameMaker 6.0 or higher
- FrameScript/ElmScript 4.1 or higher
Note
The script works with structured and unstructured documents.
