In Window Title, Display File Name Only
DisplayDocNameOnly.fso
Problem description
FrameMaker shows the entire path of the documents in the window titles. With longer paths, only the beginning of the path will be displayed in the window title.
If the document windows are too small or the paths are too long, the documents can no longer be uniquely identified based on the window title.
This especially applies to minimized documents.
Function description
The script displays only the document name instead of the entire path in the window title of the documents.
The menu command functions as a switch. The current status is indicated by a checkmark in front of the command.
With the ‘classic’ view of the windows (Windows XP), the document names of minimized documents can still be seen relatively well unless they are too long.
However, with the standard view of the windows under Windows Vista, only a few characters of the document names of the minimized windows are displayed (due to the wider window buttons).
Requirements
- FrameMaker 6.0 or higher
- FrameScript/ElmScript 4.1 or higher
Notes
The script works with structured and unstructured documents.
After the ‘Display File Name Only’ script option has been enabled, only the file name will be displayed in the window title after a document has been opened.
As soon as a document has been saved, the window title will contain the entire path again. This cannot be prevented with this script.
