Report: Condition Formats

Problem description

FrameMaker provides an option to determine the settings of the condition formats in individual documents only. If it is necessary to check which conditions are actually used, this is only possible for each format by using the search function.

If the conditions in book documents have different settings, FrameMaker will display corresponding messages (‘Setting is inconsistent’) in the book error log but there is no detailed overview.

Function description

The script checks the current document or all documents of the current book for conditions that are used, their settings and their uniformity.

If conditions are not used, a corresponding message will be displayed.

The following information will be listed in the report if the documents do not contain contradicting formats or settings:

The information for the individual documents in the report contains hyperlinks to be able to switch to the corresponding documents directly.

When ‘Show All’ or ‘Show Condition Indicators’ is enabled, these messages will be displayed in magenta.
Background: Depending on the use of the conditions, these settings must often be disabled prior to final production (PDF, print data).

A message will be displayed in red if the ‘Show All’ setting is specified differently in individual documents.

The subsequent table will indicate whether this inconsistency may not present a problem (documents with conditions that are used are marked in bold).

Section ‘3. Condition Usage’ lists for each condition where and how frequently it is used and whether it is visible or hidden.

A red ‘Differently’ entry identifies cases where the display of a condition is not uniform for all documents.

Section 4 will contain a detailed list if the display of one or more condition formats is not uniform. The following example shows that the condition ‘04_US’ is used in and in, but it is only visible in

Section 5 will contain a detailed list of settings if the formatting of condition formats (color, underline, etc.) is not uniform in all documents.

The following example shows that in most documents the condition ‘01_PrintOnly’ is formatted only with the color forest green, but in with the color magenta and change bar.

If a condition is defined differently in documents but it is not used, the condition will be shown in magenta, not in red.
